Fredrick L. Kitzman, 68, of Swisher, died Tuesday, Oct. 7, 2014, at his home. Memorial visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 10, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids. A celebration of life will be held from noon to 3 p.m. Monday, Nov. 10, at Swisher American Legion Post 671.
Survivors include his wife, Carol Kitzman of Swisher; sons, Timothy (Ann) Kitzman and Terrence Kitzman, both of Cedar Rapids; brothers, Kenneth (Ilene) Kitzman of Swisher and Dallas "Skip" Kitzman of North Liberty; and one granddaughter, Taylor. Also suriving are his loving nieces and nephews and his wiener dogs, Ginger and Murphy.
He was preceded in death by his parents and infant sister, Carleen.
Fredrick was born Sept. 6, 1946, in Washington, Iowa, son of Dallas and Maxine (Chambers) Kitzman. He was in the first graduating class from Clear Creek Amana High School and recently attended his 50th class reunion. He served in the United States Navy from 1964 to 1970. On Nov. 10, 1984, he married Carol Vanous in Cedar Rapids. Fredrick was a proud member of Plumbers and Steamfitters Local No. 125.
He enjoyed fishing and hunting and was a true outdoorsman.
