Charles Arthur Hoefer, 88, formerly of Cedar Rapids, died Friday, April 18, 2025. A private family service will be held followed by a private burial at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery.
He was born April 10, 1937 in New Vienna, IA to Arthur J. and Alma H. (Boge) Hoefer. He graduated from Delhi High School in 1955. Charles served honorably in the U.S. Army from 1960 to 1962 in Germany. He was employed at FMC in Cedar Rapids from 1965 to 1985 as an Industrial Engineer Coordinator.
On July 30, 1966, Charles married Beverly Ann (Rawson) Hoefer in Cedar Rapids, IA. They enjoyed camping, traveling, and frequent trips to Florida. Together, they owned and managed rental properties which he continued after her death in 1998. He loved spending time with his family, playing cards, daily walks, and watching the St. Louis Cardinals. He was an active member of St. Matthew’s Catholic Church for many years.
Survivors include his daughter, Cathy (Paul) Coffman; grandchildren: Ashley (Hailey) Mangano, Island (Mike) Holt, Michael (Brittany) Coffman, Marie (Craig) Coffman; great-grandchildren: LaSalle, Michael, and Mylan Holt; and sister-in-law, Karen Hoefer
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Beverly; his son-in-law Paul Coffman; his mother-in-law, Mary Rawson, his father-in-law, Leslie Rawson; his siblings, Jerry Hoefer, Darlene Fischer, Lyle Hoefer, Art Hoefer; his sisters-in-law, Verna Mae Hoefer, Linda Hoefer, Patricia Rawson, his brothers-in-law, James Rawson and Charles Fischer.
The family would like to thank Heartland Hospice for their exceptional care.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be directed to the Alzheimer’s Association.
