April K. Hallberg, 36, of Columbus, Wis., went to her heavenly home on Wednesday, Dec. 10, 2014, at her home. A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 13, at Zion Ev. Lutheran Church, 812 Western Ave., Columbus, with the Rev. Daniel Sims and the Rev. Robert Wilke officiating. A visitation will be Friday, Dec. 12, from 3 to 6 p.m. and also Saturday, Dec. 13, from 9:30 to 11 a.m. at Zion Ev. Lutheran Church in Columbus.
April was born the daughter of David and Joann (Parton) Schimmel on Nov. 20, 1978, in Alexandria, Va. She graduated from Robert E. Lee High School in Springfield, Va. April was united in marriage to Mike Hallberg on Nov. 15, 2000, in Alexandria.
Together they raised their five children. April loved being a mother and referred to taking care of her family as her greatest blessing. She cared for her family and they were her highest priority. April had a great outlook on life and enjoyed making other people happy. April was very artistic and liked music. She felt it was important to share those qualities with others.
April is survived by her husband, Mike of Columbus; her five children, Hannah, Nathan, Rebecca, Addison and Emma, all of Columbus; her parents, David Schimmel of Columbus and Joann Schimmel of Columbus; three sisters, Alisa, Julie and Kristen; her father- and mother-in-law, Don and Cherie Hallberg of Elgin, Iowa; her brother-in-law, Doug (Kristi) Hallberg; her sister-in-law, Vicki Durnan; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
April was preceded in death by her grandparents.
Memorials may be directed to Zion Ev. Lutheran Church Organ Fund in Columbus.
