A Tama County man who has been missing since Dec. 19 was found dead Tuesday in Newton County, Arkansas, according to a news release from the Tama County Sheriff’s Office.
Nicholas Collins, 22, was last in contact with his family on Dec. 19. He left a note in his residence in Garwin, Iowa saying he was “going away for a while,” according to a missing-person report from the Tama County Sheriff’s Office. On Jan. 1, his car was found in the Ozark National Forest in Johnson County, Arkansas.
“At this time, there is no indication of foul play. The investigation remains active, and additional information will be shared as it becomes available. The Newton County Sheriff’s Office in Arkansas has taken over the investigation,” the press release states. “This is a very difficult time for Nicholas’s family, and we ask everyone to respect their privacy as they grieve.”
