CEDAR RAPIDS — Traffic through downtown Cedar Rapids on the First Avenue Bridge will be affected Thursday and Friday as the city conducts floodgate testing.
The First Avenue Bridge over the Cedar River is set to be closed from First Street West to First Street East on Thursday and Friday. Detour signs will be in place.
The city is testing the roller gate that was installed as part of the permanent flood control system. It is designed to roll across the street and incorporate with surrounding flood walls.
