Donahue needs a better idea than blaming CR school board

Seriously? Demanding the resignation of three Cedar Rapids school board members after the failure of the much-needed school bond referendum? Up to now, I thought State Sen. Molly Donahue was too much of a thoughtful, careful legislator to engage in such a cheap political stunt.
After all, ample blame for this disappointing and damaging loss lies with that significant portion of the population who — unmoved by logic, and deaf-and-blind to need — will vote against any local public measure simply because they can.
If, on the next go-around, Sen. Donahue has constructive and new ideas (sorely lacking from her letter to school board members Cindy Garlock, Jennifer Neumann and David Tominsky) to generate a voter turnout sufficient to overcome the leeches (present in any community) who oppose paying toward schools, roads, flood control, swimming pools, recreation centers, whatever — and thus expect something for nothing — let’s have them.
