College athletes should be paid

College athletes getting paid is a major topic in today's world. Most would argue, 'Why do they need money when they are receiving a scholarship to play?” College athletics are a big business. College athletics rake in tons of money, in 2011-12, the NCAA reported $871.6 billion in revenue, but where does this money go if the athletes don't get any of it?
The coaches make a ton of money, too much, in my opinion. During 2015, the three highest paid people in Iowa were Kirk Ferentz ($4.5 million), Fred Hoiberg ($2.6 million), and Paul Rhoads ($1.8 million), all head coaches. I feel as if some of that money should go to the athletes.
In my opinion, college athletes at the Division 1 level should be getting paid because playing a sport in college is pretty much a full-time job. You have to worry about your sport and on top of that huge commitment, you have to keep your grades up to be able to play it. The NCAA makes millions off the players, almost as if they are being taken advantage of. These players are, in fact, the ones doing all the work. If they get paid, it would give them some compensation for all the hard work that they have put in throughout the years.
