IOWA CITY — The soccer Hawkeyes are on the hunt for a new leader heading into the 2026 season.
Iowa soccer head coach Dave Dilanni has accepted a job as the head coach of Michigan women’s soccer, the Wolverines announced Monday morning.
Dilanni is 19th among active coaches with 346 wins in his 23-year career. He helped bring Iowa a 125-82-30 all-time record. Dilanni spent 12 years with Iowa, and was a three-time NCAA Division II champion with Grand Valley State.
Dilanni was previously a coach for the Olympic Development Program (ODP) in Michigan for seven years, winning four ODP National Championships. He’s spent nearly his entire career prior to coaching the Hawkeyes in Michigan, and is a native of Toronto, Canada.
Dilanni took over the Hawkeyes’ program has the fifth coach in program history in 2014, coaching Iowa to three consecutive NCAA Tournament appearances over the last three seasons.
Iowa finished the 2025 season with a 12-5-4 overall record, including a 7-1-2 record at home. The Hawkeyes finished the season ranked No. 21 and were ranked in every poll throughout the year.
Iowa had 10 shutouts last season, finishing the season third in the Big Ten — tying the program record for the best finish in program history. Nine student-athletes ended their time at Iowa this year, either by graduation or exhausting their eligibility. The seniors secured 45 wins with Dilanni, including 11 ranked wins and a Sweet Sixteen appearance.
The Hawkeyes have already signed four incoming freshmen and three transfers for the 2026 season.
