IOWA CITY — The Iowa men’s and women’s golf team is getting a newly remodeled course.
The athletics department announced a “comprehensive transformation” project for the Finkbine Golf Course on Monday afternoon, set to begin at the end of the 2025 golf season.
“The transformational project will elevate Finkbine into one of the premier collegiate golf courses,” Director of Athletics Beth Goetz said in a release. “And we could not be more excited.”
The project includes an updated course layout, with the intention to help make the course inviting for all playing levels, as well as the inclusion of “sustainable turf technologies” to help reduce maintenance and water costs. The renovation will extended through 2026.
Nebraska-native and golf course architect Scott Hoffman was selected to work on the golf course. His previous work was named in the Top 100 Golf Courses USA.
The course’s clubhouse, the Nagle Family Clubhouse, the pro shop and Bump’s restaurant will all remain open with limited hours throughout the renovation.
“We want Finkbine to remain a destination of choice for our alumni and community members,” women’s golf head coach Megan Menzel said. “We believe this renovation will generate even more excitement around the game and play a key role in continuing to grow the sport of golf across the state of Iowa.”
Finkbine field has previously hosted two Big Ten Championships for the school’s golf programs, and has been a part of the athletics department’s facilities since 1955.
