IOWA CITY — The Hawkeyes’ list of unanimous All-Americans continues to grow.
For the fifth consecutive season, No. 23 Iowa football has a player join the prestigious list. This year, center Logan Jones reached the status after being named to the Football Writer’s Association of America All-American list Thursday morning.
To reach the unanimous status, a player must receive a first team honor by the five organizations recognized by the NCAA — FWAA, Walter Camp, Sporting News, AFCA and the Associated Press.
Jones is Iowa’s fourth offensive lineman to reach the unanimous status, and first since Tyler Linderbaum. The two offensive lineman are also the two in program history to have won the Rimington Trophy, given to the best center in college football.
Jones began his career as a defensive lineman before making the switch to offensive line in 2022. His efforts helped the Hawkeyes allow just 16 sacks, while allowing Iowa to rush for over 2,100 yards this season for 26 rushing touchdowns. The offensive line is also a finalist for the Joe Moore Award.
Returner Kaden Wetjen also earned consensus All-American status Thursday, after picking up his third first team honor via FWAA’s selection. Wetjen is a Jet Award finalist, given to the nation’s best returner in college football, and won back-to-back Big Ten Rodgers-Dwight Returner of the Year awards this year.
Consensus status is reached when a player earns first team honors with three of the five organizations.
No. 23 Iowa football closes out the 2025 season at the ReliaQuest Bowl on New Year’s Eve against No. 14 Vanderbilt, marking Jones and Wetjen’s final games in an Iowa uniform.
