IOWA CITY — Iowa football’s 2025 schedule is set, and it does not appear to be an easy one.
The Hawkeyes will open their Big Ten slate at Rutgers on Sept. 20. The schedule will get more difficult after that, though, as they play host to Indiana — fresh off its 2024 CFP appearance — on Sept. 27.
Three of Iowa’s 2025 opponents were ranked in the top 10 of this year’s final CFP rankings — No. 1 Oregon, No. 4 Penn State and No. 8 Indiana. Iowa State, meanwhile, finished the season at No. 18.
The game against Oregon will be on the weekend of Nov. 8, with both teams having a bye week beforehand to prepare for the matchup at Kinnick Stadium. The Penn State game will be on the weekend of Oct. 18 at Kinnick Stadium.
The Hawkeyes’ only 2025 Big Ten games against teams that were not bowl-eligible this year will be Oct. 11 at Wisconsin and Nov. 22 vs. Michigan State.
Iowa’s two bye weeks will be on the weekends of Oct. 4 and Nov. 1.
Iowa already unveiled its nonconference slate, which consists of an Aug. 30 home game against FCS-level Albany, a Sept. 6 game at Iowa State and a Sept. 13 home game against UMass.
The Hawkeyes’ Big Ten schedule was released Wednesday on social media and on Big Ten Network. Exact times and TV designations, as usual, have yet to be released. It also is possible that games currently slated for a Saturday may switch to a Friday kickoff.
