IOWA CITY — After Iowa football’s first week had a number of unexpected injuries, the Cy-Hawk Week depth chart had a few tweaks to it.
Running back Kamari Moulton wasn’t listed after he left the season-opener against Albany in the first quarter. Head coach Kirk Ferentz didn’t provide much information following the game regarding what happened, but Moulton watched from the sideline with a right arm sling.
In his place, Jaziun Patteron is listed as a third option, with Terrell Washington Jr. and Xaiver Williams ahead of him. Patterson and Williams share an “or” on the list.
Additionally, Dayton Howard is in at wide receiver in place of Reece Vander Zee. Vander Zee suffered a foot injury during the week leading up to the Albany game, and Ferentz described him as “week to week” during the Hawkeye pregame radio show.
Ferentz also said Vander Zee’s injury didn’t happen during practice, but noticed some discomfort in the food line. He also added he does expect Vander Zee to return at some point.
Bryce George, who suffered a left arm injury in pregame on Saturday, wasn’t listed on this week’s chart. There’s not an additional substitution mentioned for a third player at left tackle.
Other notes
Trevor Lauck won the official starting job at left tackle, after splitting reps with Jack Dotzler during training camp and Week 1. Lauck was the starter against Albany, but this week the “or” tag is removed.
Bryce Hawthorne and Jonah Pace have an “or” with them at defensive tackle. Last week, Hawthorne had sole possession of the starting job.
Iowa is required to submit an availability report at least two hours before kickoff on Saturday, which would be no later than 9 a.m.
