The Hawkeyes have swept their three in-state rivals (Drake, Iowa State and UNI) each of the past three years.
Iowa has four Iowans on its roster: Hannah Stuelke (Cedar Rapids Washington), Jada Gyamfi (Johnston), Callie Levin (Solon), Journey Houston (Davenport North).
Drake counters with Grace Knutson (Cedar Falls), Mya Crawford (Ankeny Centennial), Ava Hawthorne (Gilbert), Brooklin Dailey (Southeast Polk) and Quinn Vice (Pleasant Valley).
Iowa Coach Jan Jensen was an All-American at Drake, where she played from 1987 through 1991.
The Hawkeyes are coming off a record-setting win, 119-43, over Evansville on Sunday. They set program records for points and victory margin. Six players scored in double figures, led by Layla Hays’ 20 points.
Sophomore Ava Heiden leads Iowa at 17.5 points and 12.0 rebounds per game. Four other Hawkeyes are averaging in double figures, and the team is shooting 58.5 percent from the floor, 40.9 percent from distance.
Drake’s last outing was an 83-74 home loss to Creighton on Sunday.
Abbie Aalsma is leading the Bulldogs at 22.5 points per game. Drake’s Peyton McCabe is the younger sister of Iowa’s Taylor McCabe.
Lisa Bluder, who coached both at Drake and at Iowa, will serve as color commentator Thursday for BTN.
