Her first visit to Iowa City, Jada Seubert said, “was too good to be true.”
The second visit was a clincher.
“I had the same feeling,” she said. “I felt like I belong there.”
So why drag things out?
A 5-foot-11 junior combo guard from Stevens Point, Wis., Seubert committed to University of Iowa women’s basketball program Saturday.
“Once I got to the point that nothing was going to change my mind,” she said, “I was ready to enjoy and celebrate my decision.”
Seubert never publicly revealed a list of finalists once Iowa took the lead.
The first member of Iowa’s 2027 recruiting class, Seubert is the latest part of the Hawkeyes’ Wisconsin pipeline.
She will join current players Taylor Stremlow (Verona) and Teagan Mallegni (McFarland), who will be seniors in two seasons.
The Hawkeyes’ Wisconsin connection also includes 2019 national player of the year Megan Gustafson (Port Wing), among others.
Seubert is ranked 66th in the 2027 class by Prep Girls Hoops, including No. 1 in Wisconsin.
She is averaging 23.5 points, 6.9 rebounds, 4.4 assists and 3.4 steals per game in her junior season at Stevens Point. Her team is 12-3.
“I would say my work ethic is very strong,” she said. “I can’t leave the gym until I’ve made 10 in a row of whatever I’m doing.
“My dad tells me to get my nerves out on the defensive end, because that’s what I can control first.”
Seubert is fully recovered from a broken left leg suffered in 2023. She in a 200- and 400-meter sprinter in track and field.
