What to know: Iowa has lost three in a row after a 79-72 loss Tuesday night at No. 5 Purdue.

The game had nine ties and 14 lead changes. Iowa’s largest lead was nine points early in the second half.

The Hawkeyes lost despite shooting 52.9 percent from the field and making 12 3-pointers. Guard Kael Combs had a career-high 16 points for Iowa, which is 0-4 in road games this season, three of the four losses coming to teams ranked in the AP top 10.

Indiana has lost two in a row, to Nebraska and Michigan State. The Hoosiers are coached by Aplington native Darian DeVries, who preceded Iowa’s Ben McCollum as head coach at Drake.

Tucker DeVries, Darian’s son, averages 14.6 points and 4.9 rebounds per game. Guard Lamar Wilkerson ranks fourth in the Big Ten Conference in scoring at 20.2 points per game.

“He's got a quick trigger,” said McCollum. “He's actually a really, really good mover without the basketball. They do a good job of putting him in positions to be able to do just that. They've got a good passing team for the most part.

“I mean, offensively and defensively, they're just good. But him in particular, (he) can shoot from anywhere when he gets going. It's a problem because he can shoot from anywhere on the floor, and make it from anywhere on the floor, not just shoot it. And obviously finishes at a high level as well.”
