Dubuque Wahlert 23, Mount Vernon 21
The preseason No. 1 Mustangs’ playoff hopes are hanging by a thread after a loss to the Golden Eagles in Mount Vernon.
The ninth-ranked Mustangs scored twice in the final eight minutes, but failed to recover two onside kick attempts. Mount Vernon quarterback Kellen Haverback completed 25 of 40 passes for 239 yards. He had TD passes to Mikey Ryan and Maddox Curran.

Springville 59, Central City 20
Trailing 14-13 in the first quarter, the Orioles went on a 46-6 run to close out Tractor Bowl triumph over the rival Wildcats in their annual trophy contest.
Springville’s Mason Hoy rushed for 146 yards and four touchdowns on a mere 7 carries while teammate Braden Jordan added 63 yards and one touchdown on 9 carries. Jordan also completed 5 of 10 passes for 62 yards with two TDs.

Hunter Curley rushed for 128 yards and two touchdowns, caught a touchdown pass, and fullback/linebacker Cadyn Dana intercepted two passes, returning one for a touchdown, as the Warriors (8-0) rumbled past the Lynx (7-1) at Jerry Southmayd Field in Fairbank.

Tipton 28, Monticello 7
Despite just 142 yards of total offense, the Tigers won their first game of the season.
Tipton had a pair of defensive and special teams scores, the first a blocked punt returned for a touchdown in the first quarter and then a 100-yard interception return from Oakley Kruse late in the fourth.

Independence 34, Iowa Falls-Alden 0
Christopher Meyer rushed for 239 yards and four touchdowns and passed for 124 more with another score as the Mustangs rolled on the road.
Meyer, who completed 11 of 17 passes, connected with Zeke Symonds five times for 93 yards and a TD.
Alburnett 33, Anamosa 14
Laken Caves scored three touchdowns while teammates Cash Varner and Owen Henriksen add one each as the Pirates piled up 414 yards of total offense while holding Anamosa to a mere 182.
Hudson Scranton led the Raiders, rushing 15 times for 73 yards.

Solon 35, Mount Pleasant 0
The No. 2 Spartans used a steady stream of touchdowns and staunch defense to stifle the Panthers in the battle of the two remaining district undefeateds.
Solon scored on a 7-yard run by Maddox Kelley, a deep pass from Eli Kampman to Cody Millman and another Kelley run in the first half.

West Branch 43, Bellevue 20
Keaten Gates rushed for 266 yards and brother Cooper added 71, and the two combined for three scores, as the Bears clinched the Class 2A-5 title.
Brennen Dale completed 3 of 4 passes for 51 yards, two to Conner Copper for TDs.

Iowa City Regina 42, Louisa-Muscatine 0
The Regals came out hot, scoring four touchdowns in the first quarter, in a rout of the Falcons at home.
Kyle Tracy threw for two touchdowns and added another on the ground in the first half. The Regina defense also intercepted the ball twice in the second half and ran out the clock to take home the win.

Iowa Valley 60, WACO 20
Fourth-ranked Iowa Valley’s first play of scrimmage went for minuw-4 yards. It was pretty much all positive after that as the Tigers cruised to an 8-player win to complete an undefeated regular season.
Nolan Kriegel added to his state leading touchdown total, running for three and passing for another, highlighted by a 68-yard TD run.
Chance Hoyt added two more scores on the ground as the Tigers led 53-0 after three quarters.
