Miller leaves Lone Tree for DeWitt Central

May. 15, 2012 11:16 pm
Former Lone Tree Coach Mike Miller was introduced Tuesday as new head football coach at DeWitt Central.
Miller, 29, is the brother of Solon head coach Kevin Miller. He took LT to the playoffs this past season and replaces Kurt Kreiter at DeWitt.
Kreiter is becoming the school's new athletics director.
“From a family standpoint, this was a nice fit as far as belonging to a community that is self-sufficient,” Miller told the Quad City Times. “From a football standpoint, as far as tradition, I've been very impressed. They may not have reached the goals they wanted to, but they've been consistently competitive year in and year out.
“The tradition has been established, and the stability really stood out. That says a lot about the community support.”
Miller's hiring still needs to be approved by the Central school board.
