The corporate giving program of the Theisen's farm and home store chain announced 94 grants totaling $155,00 to non-profits on Thursday, Nov. 3.
Theisen's More for Your Community Grant programs provided an average cash grant of $1,661 in its third year. The grants included 14 awards to food pantries, community kitchens, gardens and packsack programs, 13 to youth service programs, 11 to outdoor camps and nature programs and seven grants to shelters and housing programs.
"With these grants of $156,225, we are simply giving back to our community and the people we serve," President Jim Theisen said in prepared remarks. "We are so proud to support these non-profit organizations as they provide food, shelter, health care, safety and education to children and families in and near to our store operations."
The corporate giving program is a partnership with the Community Foundation of greater Dubuque, which helped review applicants.
"The review process included a focus on meeting the most basic and urgen needs of children and families in a wide region from Maquoketa to Pella to Ames to New Hampton and the Theisen store communities in between," said the community foundation's CEO, Nancy Van Milligen.
