The popular Decorah Eagle Cam that captured the attention of millions of Internet fans will be disconnected this week.
KIMT-TV in Mason City says the three bald eagle chicks that hatched in early April have left the nest but are still in the area, and organizers are already looking ahead to next season. Bob Anderson of the Raptor Resource Project hopes to improve the video image.
Anderson says he's still "overwhelmed" that the Eagle cam had 160 million hits. He has filmed eagles in the Decorah nest for five years, but this was the first time it was broadcast 24 hours a day.
Anderson says he expects the eagle cam will be turned off by the end of the week. It was still operating Thursday night.
