Topic Request

We want to engage the community in a meaningful, daily conservation about topics selected by the public and Gazette brand editors. Gazette editors will determine questions using the following criteria:

  • Relevance to the website’s target audience
  • Timeliness
  • Ability to generate website traffic
  • Audience requests

In order to engage lively, informed conversation we want to ask questions that do the following:

  • Create or add to knowledge being disseminated
  • Generate proposed solutions to problems
  • Entertain us, but without making personal attacks on individuals

Questions that do this:

  • Are free of inherent bias or points of view (open to comments from all perspectives)
  • Include enough background information to appropriately frame the issue
  • Include links to related content or background information as appropriate
  • Are well-defined, to keep users from veering off topic
  • Don’t revisit obsolete or dated issues, although new developments that return the issue to the public forefront will appear
