A pair of Cedar Rapids elementary schools closed their doors. Two local cultural institutions reopened after extensive post-flood renovations — the Paramount Theater and the National Czech and Slovak Museum & Library. And the search for two girls reported missing in Evansdale in July came to a tragic end in December with the discovery of the girls’ bodies in a wildlife area.
