IOWA CITY — The Big Ten announced Thursday it will keep its football championship game at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis through 2021.

The Big Ten’s original deal with Indianapolis expired after the 2015 title game. The league began playing a football championship game in 2011.

The league also agreed to rotate the Big Ten’s men’s basketball tournament between Chicago and Indianapolis. Chicago’s United Center will host the tournament in 2019 and 2021, while Indianapolis’ Bankers Life Fieldhouse will host in 2020 and 2022. Indianapolis will host the women’s tournament from 2017 through 2022.

Chicago and Indianapolis have shared as host site of the men’s basketball tournament over its first 17 years. It returns to Chicago next March and then Indianapolis in 2016. The Verizon Center in Washington D.C. will host the 2017 tournament. The league has yet to announce the 2018 tournament site.

The women’s Basketball tournament has been played in Indianapolis in 18 of 20 years since 1995. Bankers Life Fieldhouse has hosted the tournament in 12 of the last 13 seasons, while Sears Centre Arena in Hoffman Estates, Ill., served as the event’s home in 2013 and will again in March.
