Some bicyclists do not obey the rules

To the editor:
Back when I rode my bike in the 1940s and 1950s, I watched out for cars, not the other way around. I rode mostly on sidewalks and in the street when traffic was minimal. We didn't have bike lanes.
That doesn't seem to matter these days. A lot of the bikers ride like they own the road and the drivers should look out for them. I have seen bikers go through stop signs and hold up traffic by riding down the middle of the road. Driving downtown and around the NewBo area is a nightmare. I try to avoid it as much as possible.
Bikes back in the day used to be licensed. Wouldn't it be a good idea to put this tax revenue toward paying for these bike lanes? Just a thought for whoever is in charge of that sort of thing. Everything else is taxed. I'm sure there are conscientious riders out there who do all they can to be as careful as they can, but there are a few who have an attitude. Remember bikers, cars don't stop on a dime. Drivers are not mind readers. We don't know what you're thinking or listening to. That's another issue.
Watching out for you and keep on keeping on.
