IOWA CITY - A spokesman for the University of Iowa says a coding error caused more than 1,000 elementary school aged kids to receive college recruitment letters this week.
Spokesman Tom Moore said the University accidentally sent the letters to recent participants in the UI's 'wildlife camps.” Those camps are generally attended by first to sixth graders, Moore said.
The letters encouraged the kids to take campus visits and directed them where to send their application for admission.
Moore said the University is apologetic to any parents caught off-guard by the letters.
