A Palo teenager faces two felonies after a carjacking and high speed pursuit Tuesday morning.

Nicholas Scott, 17, is accused of assaulting a woman at St. Luke's Hospital sometime after 1 a.m. and stealing her 2006 Chevrolet Uplander, according to the Linn County Sheriff's Office. Scott took off on Interstate 380 northbound where deputies joined the chase north of Center Point.

When the deputy attempted to stop Scott, he fled and a chase ensued. The pursuit reached speeds of 110 mph and spanned several counties. It ended when police deployed stop sticks at the 62 mile marker near Gilbertville in Black Hawk County, according to the sheriff's office. Scott was stopped at the 63.5 mile marker. He did not resist arrest, police said.

Scott was arrested and faces charges of second-degree robbery, felony eluding and several traffic violations. The incident remains under investigation.

The Black Hawk County Sheriff's Office and Evansdale Police Department assisted in the pursuit. The Cedar Rapids Police Department also assisted in the investigation.
