STANWOOD - Vandalism at North Cedar High School canceled classes on Monday morning. Crews spent part of Monday morning airing out the high school from a mess that was made inside the school over the weekend.
School officials said vandals put 'old silage” inside parts of the school. Cleaning crews could be seen spraying and wiping down tables. The inside of the building was filled with wet and dirty carpets.
North Cedar Community School District Superintendent Mike Cooper said the damage was contained to the cafeteria and, as of Monday afternoon, had not been given an estimate on the cost of cleaning up the mess.
'I would have to say it looks like a senior prank that caused a lot of damage, which is vandalism,” Cooper said in an email, adding there were no suspects and no arrests had been made.
A TV9 photojournalist at the school described the smell inside the building as 'horrendous.”
