Former Maryland Gov. Martin O'Malley is adding to his Iowa staff as he prepares to travel to Davenport on Saturday, part of a two-stop visit to the state.
O'Malley is expected to announce his candidacy for president in Baltimore on Saturday morning, which would bring to three the number of Democrats in the race, including former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and U.S. Sen. Bernie Sanders.
O'Malley is slated to be at the United Food and Commercial Workers, Local 431, union hall, 2411 W. Central Park Ave., Davenport, at 3 p.m., with doors to open at 2:45 p.m.
Meanwhile, his team is adding to his Iowa staff. Kristin Sosanie has been picked to be deputy state director in Iowa and will oversee communications, according to an O'Malley aide.
Sosanie was communications director for President Barack Obama in Minnesota in the 2012 campaign. She also previously worked for the Democratic National Committee, as well as for the Agriculture Committee in the U.S. House of Representatives.
Earlier this month, the O'Malley team hired Joe O'Hern to be his state director.
In addition to his stop in Davenport, O'Malley is scheduled to make an appearance in Des Moines.
