Williams, Deborah Joan (Hoy)
Deborah Joan (Hoy) Williams, 60, formerly of 4620 Ford Ave. NW, Cedar Rapids, died Saturday, Dec. 29, 2012, at Hospice House of Mercy in Hiawatha. She fought a lifelong battle with lung disorders.
Survivors include her husband, Chuck Williams; stepchildren, Janet and John; brothers, Michael (Pam) and children, Tara and John, of Pillager, Minn., Bill (Lynn), and son Weston, of Marcella, N.Y., and Peter Hoy, and children, Chloe, Shawn (Marla) Hoy and Ryan Hoy, of Cedar Rapids; sisters, Mary P. Hoy, and daughter Heather, of Cedar Rapids, Margaret Hurst and children, Owen and Amelia, of Lawerence, Kan., and Anna Mitchell of Colorado Springs, Colo.; uncle, Dennis Hoy of Marion; and many local Hoy cousins and Arizona Lockhart cousins.
She was preceded in death by her father, Bernard Michael Hoy; her mother, Patricia Ann (Davis) Hoy; two aunts, Ethel Hoy and Floretta Lockhart; and Floretta’s daughters, Patty and Nancy Lockhart.
Deborah grew up in Cedar Rapids, and attended Hoover Elementary, Taft Junior High and Jefferson High School, where she graduated from in 1970. She worked at Iowa Manufacturing and Collins Radio. She was previously married to Anthony Syedel and Whitey Owl.
Deborah was always ready to flash her “smile” that truly resembled her humor, goodness and warmth. She will be greatly missed and loved by all.
