Funeral services for Alberta Lucille Werling, 91, of Mechanicsville, formerly of Tipton, who died Saturday, Feb. 23, 2013, will be held 11 a.m. March 2 at Fry Funeral Home, Tipton, with Pastor Jonathon Smith officiating. Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. before the service at the funeral home. Burial will follow at the LeClaire Cemetery in LeClaire.

Alberta was born April 21, 1921, the daughter of Jack W. and Roxie Ellen Wilson Sturdy. She was a 1939 graduate of Tipton High School. She was united in marriage to William Wilson Moffit Jr. and later to Warren Werling. Alberta was a homemaker, attended Tipton Bible Church and was a member of the Pythian Sisters (past Supreme Chief of the State of Iowa), Lions, VFW Auxiliary and Moose Lodge.

She is survived by her children, Jorjean J. Banez of Cedar, Minn., Jeraldine G. Kurth of Mechanicsville and Julia K. (Dennis) Williams of Shellsburg; 11 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and brother, Keith Richard Sturdy of Tipton.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands, William and Warren; daughters, Judy Kuehl and Joyce Davis; son, William Moffit III; grandson, Norman Davis Jr; great-grandson, Terry Armstrong; and brothers, William Franklin Sturdy and Jack Herbert Sturdy.
