Thomas, Nicholas Jon Sr.
Nicholas Jon Thomas Sr., 58, of Burlington, died at 12:22 p.m. Friday, Jan. 11, 2013, at his home in Burlington.
Born Oct. 17, 1954, he was the son of Donald Lorraine and Betty Ruth Lewis Thomas. Nicholas worked for J.I. Case Company for over 35 years. He graduated from New London High School in 1972. He was a U.S. Navy veteran. He was a member of the NRA (National Rifle Association) and Abate (A Brotherhood Aimed Toward Education) motorcycle organization. He was a hunting enthusiast and enjoyed his motorcycle.
Survivors include three son, Joshua Neil (Jennifer) Thomas of North Liberty, Nicholas Jon Thomas II of Cedar Rapids and Jacob Lewis Thomas of Bettendorf; two grandchildren, Reagan Nichole Thomas and Kellen Matthew Thomas; his mother, Betty Ruth Thomas of Newton; one brother, Anthony Dave Thomas of Lisbon; one sister, Vanessa (Eric) Shinkle of Lynnville; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father; and one brother, Michael Owen Thomas.
Visitation will be from noon to 7 p.m., with the family to receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. today at Thielen Funeral Home, Burlington. A private service will be held at a later date.
A memorial has been established for the NRA (National Rifle Association).
