Gary A. Swanstrom

Gary A. Swanstrom, 50, of Cedar Rapids, died Friday, Nov. 16, 2012, with his best friend, Sam, and family by his side at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City. A Celebration of Life service will be held at Prime Time on Center Point Road NE on Tuesday from 3 to 6:30 p.m. Iowa Cremation is in charge of arrangements.

Survivors include his best friend, Sam of Cedar Rapids; daughter, Cally, and her fiance, Steve Moore, of Cedar Rapids; his brother, Gregory (Sue) of Park Rapids, Minn.; two nephews, Robert and Paul Swanstrom; and his dog, Koasta.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Gary was born Feb. 18, 1962, in Minneapolis, the son of Robert and Beryl Slough Swanstrom. He was an EMI technician at Rockwell-Collins for over 27 years. He was a member of the Eagles Club and the Moose Lodge.

Gary was a very talented artist. He did both drawings and sculptures. Gary enjoyed camping and fishing and truly lived life to the fullest everyday.

He was a wonderful father, brother, and friend who will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

A memorial fund has been established.
