Rickey "Rick" Stieger

Rickey “Rick” Stieger, 65, of Blue Grass, died Friday, Feb. 1, 2013, following a short illness. Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 5, at The Runge Mortuary in Davenport. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until service time at the mortuary. Burial will be in National Cemetery, Rock Island, Ill.

Rick was born April 21, 1947, in Davenport, the son of Emil and Lucille (Chittick) Stieger. He graduated from Davenport West High School in 1965. He was a Vietnam veteran, serving his country from 1967 until 1969. He married Sharon Gallagher in Cedar Rapids on July 18, 1970. Rick retired from the Rock Island Arsenal in 2008 after 23 years of service. Prior to the Arsenal, he worked 19 years for International Harvester.

He spent his retirement doting on his dogs and his classic car hobby.

Those left to honor his memory include his loving wife of 42 years, Sharon; father, Emil; brother, Terry; brother-in-law, Bill (Tammy) Gallagher; sisters-in-law, Julie Gallagher-Fisher and Audrey Stieger; nine nieces and nephews; 19 great-nieces and great-nephews; and his two faithful puppers, Dakota and Simon.

He was preceded in death by his mother; father- and mother-in-law, Herb and Ardis Gallagher; and brother-in-law, Dick Gallagher.

Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or the American Diabetes Association.
