Jesse H. Sternberg

Jesse H. Sternberg, 79, of Cedar Rapids, died Tuesday, Nov. 20, 2012, at Mercy Medical Center. Funeral Mass: noon Saturday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. Burial: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday from 4 to 7 p.m. at Cedar Memorial Westside Chapel.

Survivors include his wife, Cleone Sternberg; a stepdaughter, Susan Burgess; his grandchildren, Curt (Tanya) Burgess, Nick Burgess, Lizz Burgess and Sara Burgess, all of Cedar Rapids; and his great-grandchildren, Tyler, Carly, Hanna and Jackson Burgess and Cody Wells, all of Cedar Rapids.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister.

Jesse was born March 17, 1933, in Rome, Ga., the son of Harry and Clara (Hayes) Sternberg. He married Cleone Becker on Sept. 13, 1980, in Cedar Rapids. Jesse was employed at Universal Engineering and was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church.

He enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening and wood working.

He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
