Colleen V. Steepleton, 76, of Cedar Rapids, died Wednesday, Dec. 12, 2012. Funeral Mass: 10 a.m. Monday at St. Pius X Catholic Church. Burial: Mount Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home and after 9 a.m. Monday at the church.
Survivors include her husband of 57 years, Jerry; her children, Theresa (Tom Jr.) Nance of Corona, Calif., Rick (Michele) Steepleton of Cedar Rapids, Marty Steepleton of Cedar Rapids, David (Jennifer) Steepleton of Richardson, Texas, Carol (Paul) Steingreaber of Cedar Rapids and Brenda (Tony) Origer of Greenwood, Ind.; and her siblings, Sharon Wymore and Rosemary Johnston, both of Cedar Rapids and Terry (Darlas) Reilly of Mission, Texas.
Also surviving are her grandchildren, Leah, Lindsey, Ali, Tommy, Scott, Megan, Emily, Mahlon, Amanda, Jackie, Nicki, Kate, Nicholas, Olivia, Elizabeth and Josie; and four great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Sherri Ann Steepleton; her brothers, Hugh, Ron, Bob and Erwin; and a sister, Connie.
Colleen was born Jan. 17, 1936, in Van Horne, Iowa, the daughter of Mark and Mary (Kelly) Reilly. She married the love of her life, Jerry Steepleton on Oct. 22, 1955, in Van Horne, Iowa. Colleen was a stay-at-home mom with her family and faith being everything to her. She was a charter member of St. Pius X Catholic Church where she was active in the Prayer Chain and school lunch room. She also founded a Parent’s Support Group for children with cancer in Cedar Rapids and enjoyed the Thursday Morning Breakfast Club and Saturday Night Starlite Group. Colleen enjoyed the time spent were her grandchildren. She also looked forward to her winter get-a-way to California and trips to Indiana and Texas visiting her grandchildren.
