Helen M. Stanek, 84, of Cedar Rapids, died Saturday, Jan. 26, 2013, in St. Luke’s Hospital. Services: private. A gathering will be on Thursday from 4 to 6 p.m. at Cedar Memorial Westside Chapel.

Survivors include her children, Robyn (Jeff) Heiden of Marshalltown, Iowa, and David L. Stanek of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; her siblings, Kathryn Sturm and Kenneth Rainbolt, both of Cedar Rapids; her grandchildren, Jessica Heiden (Trey Polesky) and Lisa (Travis) Heiden- Kimball; and a great grandchild, Jackson Kimball. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Jack Stanek; and two brothers, Wendell and Franklin Rainbolt.

Helen was born Feb. 2, 1928, in Holt, Mo., the daughter of Frank and Louise (Knouse) Rainbolt. She married Jack Stanek on July 25, 1950, in Kahoka, Mo. Helen was a stay-home mom and a member of Holy Redeemer Lutheran Church. Helen enjoyed bowling and spending time with her friends.
