He then returned to Iowa, settling in Marshalltown to be near his son and his family. Here he lived at Ember’s Senior Living Center, enjoying many new friendships.
He had been a member of the Elks Lodge, Moose Lodge, American Legion, and a member of First Presbyterian Church.
His family includes his two sons, Larry and his wife, Barbara, of Marshalltown and Doug Schrum of Cedar Rapids; three grandchildren, Jacob Schrum (Elena), Elizabeth Schrum and Ethan Schrum; and his two brothers, Burton Schrum (Betty) of Norton, Kan., and Lyle Schrum of Urbandale.
Wayne was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Ann; a brother, Art; and two siblings as children.
