Schinckel, Pauline I.
Pauline I. Schinckel, 85, of Hartwick, died Saturday, Nov. 24, 2012, at Mercy Iowa City after a short illness. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 29, at St. Bridget Catholic Church in Victor with the Rev. Brian Shepley officiating. Organist will be Verabeth Bricker; vocalists, Brad Barker and Anna Upah; casket bearers will be Vicki York, Brian Barker, Janet Barker, Troy Barker, Brad Barker, Chuck Van Thournout, Jerry Henning and Lynn Sleeuwenhoek. Interment will be at the Calvary Cemetery in Victor. Visitation will be held from 2 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Smith Funeral Home in Victor and the family will be present to greet friends from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday. A rosary will be recited at 4 p.m.
Memorials may be directed to the Pauline Schinckel Memorial Fund and mailed in care of the Smith Funeral Home, P.O. Box 485, Victor, IA 52347.

Pauline was born Jan. 27, 1927, to Emil and Grace Martens DeRycke in rural Hartwick. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Bridget’s Catholic Church. She attended and graduated from Hartwick High School with the class of 1944. She was united in marriage to Marvin Schinckel on Sept. 18, 1948, and to this union one daughter was born. They farmed on the family century farm south of Hartwick.
Pauline’s favorite hobbies were maintaining her yard and visiting with family and friends.
Pauline is survived by her husband of 64 years, Marvin; daughter, Bonnie (Bob) Barker of Victor; grandchildren, Vicki (Brian) York of Victor, Brian (Whitney) Barker of Victor, Janet Barker of Cedar Rapids, Troy Barker of Victor and Brad Barker of Victor; and her great-grandchildren, Grace and Kayla York, both of Victor.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
