Phillip Vernon Sand

Phillip Vernon Sand, 42, of Littleton, Colo., formerly of Mount Vernon, died Friday, Feb. 1, 2013, in his Littleton home. Phillip’s funeral will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Mount Vernon United Methodist Church, by the Rev. William Daylong. Visitation and sharing of Phil’s life will be from 5 until 7 p.m. Friday at Morgan Funeral and Cremation Choices. Burial for Phillip will be in Campbell Cemetery, rural Bertram.

Surviving Phillip are his parents, Vernon and Arlene Taube Sand, Bertram; a sister, Paula (Cary) Gold; a nephew, Carter; and a niece, Ellie.

Preceding Phil in death were his grandparents.

Phil was born Oct. 25, 1970, in Cedar Rapids. He graduated from Mount Vernon High School in 1989. He worked as a draftsman in Colorado, but it was his passion and talents for music and the arts that truly fueled his spirit.

Memorials in Phil’s honor will be used for work in the mental health field.
