Donald Louis Rychnovsky

Donald Louis Rychnovsky, 80, of Muskegon, Mich., formerly of Belle Plaine, died Tuesday, Jan. 1, 2013, at his home after a year-and-a-half struggle with cancer. A memorial Mass will be 10 a.m. Monday, Jan. 14, at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Belle Plaine, by the Rev. Michael Mescher, celebrant, with Deacon Joe Behounek assisting. Inurnment will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Vining, with military honors. Visitation will be from 3 to 6 p.m. Sunday at Hrabak Funeral Home, where there will be a rosary at 6 p.m.

Donald is survived by his wife, Barbara (Breja), formerly of Tama; daughters, Pamela (Timothy) Hesketh of Solon, Ohio, and Christine (Michael) Hiller of Twinsburg, Ohio; sons, Stephen Rychnovsky of San Diego, Calif., and James (Virginia) Rychnovsky of Painesville, Ohio; stepsons, Randy (Sabre) Riffle and Rick (Robin) Riffle, both of Tama; sister, Ruth Sweeny of Twinsburg, Ohio; 11 grandchildren, and he was a great-grandfather to quadruplets born on his 80th birthday.

He was born May 25, 1932, in Tama, to Dr. Lewis and Anna Shollar Rychnovsky. He was a veteran in the U.S. Army, serving during the Korean War. He retired from Howmet and for several years doing tool and mold consulting for various companies.

Preceding him in death were his parents and a sister, Marcella Kucera.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Harbor Hospice or a charity of choice.
