Jean M. Richards, 82, died Saturday, Jan. 12, 2013 at Mercy Hospice from complications from a massive stroke. Family Services will be held, with burial at Ridgewood Cemetery. Arrangements are with Lensing’s Oak Hill Funeral Service, Coralville.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Mercy Hospital Foundation for Mercy Hospice.

Jean was born Aug. 22, 1930, in Omaha, Neb., the daughter of Joseph and Mabel Christiansen Wachtler. She was a graduate of Creighton University. On May 21, 1955, Jean married Floyd Richards in Omaha.

Jean dedicated her life to her husband and family. She loved to garden.

Survivors include her two children, Carol (Tim) Raymer of Coralville and Mike (Laurie) Richards of Omaha; seven grandchildren, Melissa (Zach) Keller, Abby Raymer, Melanie Raymer, Andrew Raymer, Leah Richards, Grant Richards and Bryan Perkins; and three great-grandchildren, Isaiah Keller, Scarlett Keller and Joseph Keller.

Jean was preceded in death by her husband, Floyd.
