Putz, Harold Emil
Harold Emil Putz, 83, of Delaware, died Monday, Dec. 17, 2012, at the Good Neighbor Home in Manchester. Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Friday, Dec. 21, at Kramer Funeral Home in Dyersville, where a vigil service will be held at 3 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 22, at SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Petersburg, with inurnment in the church cemetery. The Rev. John O’Connor will officiate. Friends may also call Saturday after 9 a.m. at the church in Petersburg.
Harold was born June 16, 1929, at home in Petersburg, Iowa, the son of Anton “Tony” and Marcella (Kruse) Putz. His passion was farming and is what he did all of his life.
Survivors include his seven children, Rita (Lawrence “Poncho”) Lewin and Ruth (Harley) Lewin, both of Manchester, Dan (June) Putz of Dyersville, Richard (Shirley) Putz of Earlville, Nancy Putz (special friend Terry Mohr) of Delhi, Julie (Norm) Voelker of Ryan and James (Jodi) Putz of Lacona; 10 grandchildren, Sherry (Mark) Williams, Adam (Rachel) Lewin, Jesse (Traci) Lewin, Briget (Billy) Tibbott, Brent and Brock Putz, Chris (Amy) Putz, and Lori, Michelle and Carrie Voelker; and nine great-grandchildren. Also one sister, Verna Mae (Donald) Lueck of Cascade; two brothers, David (Delores) Putz of Greeley and Jerome “Jerry” (Judy) Putz of East Dubuque, Ill.; two sisters-in-law, Agnes Putz of Dyersville and Grace Putz of Manchester; and many other relatives.
Preceding him in death were his parents; two sisters, Pearl (Alvin) Gaul and Alice Putz (5 years old); and two brothers, Walter Putz and Fred (Fritz) Putz.
He married Estella Hahn on Sept. 18, 1951, but they divorced in 1975. She also survives.
