Valda M. Pruess

Valda M. Pruess, 72, of Cedar Rapids, formerly of Marion and Olin, died Nov. 20, 2012, at St. Luke’s Hospital, Cedar Rapids. Funeral Services: 11 a.m. Friday, Nov. 23, at Chapman Funeral Home in Clarence, by the Rev. David Mears. Burial: St. John’s Cemetery. Visitation: from 10 a.m. until service time Friday at the funeral home.

Born May 15, 1940, in Anamosa, Iowa, she was the daughter of Melvin F. and Louetta (Soenksen) Pruess. Valda enjoyed going to movies, eating out, Camp Courageous as well as doing embroidery and painting.

Survivors include special cousins, Kenny (Mildred) Soenksen of Cedar Rapids, Sherry (Galen) Brendes of Marion, Larry Soenksen of Olin and Martha McCall of Mechanicsville.

She was preceded in death by her parents and special cousin, Melissa Brendes.
