Potter, Patricia “Patsy” Joy
Patricia “Patsy” Joy Potter, 73, of Cedar Rapids, passed away Jan. 15, 2013, surrounded by her loving family, at the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy in Hiawatha. Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Friday, Jan. 18, at Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories. Visitation will be from 1:30 to 3 p.m. before the service Friday at the chapel. Burial will follow at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery.
Patsy is survived by her children, Aldean (Greg) Edwards, Mark (Julie) Potter, Mike (Molly) Potter and Penny (Mike) Hargens; a brother, Jay Albright; and nine grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and husband of 53 years, Richard Potter.
Patsy was born March 21, 1939, in St. Paul, Min., the daughter of George and Grace Albright. She married Richard Potter on Dec. 28, 1958, in Lisbon, Iowa. He preceded her in death in October 2012. Patsy worked as an administrative assistant for Cedar Rapids Community Schools for 15 years until her retirement.
Among her many passions Patsy loved playing cards, reading romance novels, spending time with family and friends, and fishing at the cabin in Minnesota.
Patsy will be remembered for her sense of humor and love of cooking, especially her amazing fried chicken.
Patsy was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, and friend to everyone who knew her. Her loving spirit and strength will be forever remembered.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy.
