Catherine “Kate” A. Pottebaum

Catherine “Kate” A. Pottebaum, 94, of Guttenberg, Iowa, died Saturday, Nov. 24, 2012, at Guttenberg Municipal Hospital, Guttenberg.

Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 27, 2012, at Kramer Funeral Home in Dyersville where a vigil service will be held at 4 p.m.

Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 28, 2012, at St. Francis Xavier Basilica where the Rev. Dennis Quint will officiate. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Guttenberg, where the Rev. Marvin Bries will officiate.11

Kate was born April 2, 1918, in Luxemburg, Iowa, the daughter of Andrew and Philomena (Endres) Scheller. She married Arnold J. Pottebaum on Nov. 16, 1937, in Luxemburg, Iowa. Kate was employed at Amerock in Rockford, Ill., for over 30 years until retirement in 1976, when they moved back to Dyersville.

Survivors include her sister, Ann Olinger of Guttenberg; and several nieces & nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Arnold, in 2000; siblings, Evelyn Graver, Ambrose Scheller, Joseph Scheller, Frances Thomas, and Viola Winter; and in-laws, Anton and Emil Pottebaum, Elizabeth Trumm, Clara Henkels, Catherine Oberbroeckling, Coletta Jaeger, Agnes Kramer and Mathilda Meyers.
