William "Big Bill" Phelps

William “Big Bill” Phelps, 62, of Anamosa, made his great journey to the Lord’s kingdom on Feb. 19, 2013, at home after a lengthy illness. A gathering of family and friends will be from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, Feb. 23, at Stewart Baxter Funeral & Memorial Services, Cedar Rapids. Big Bill loved T-shirts and sweat pants so casual dress is requested.

Survivors include his daughter, Shelly (Jesse) Stearns of Anamosa; granddaughters, Trinity, Lexi-Pooh and Bailee; and a grandson, Liam “Little Bill.”

Bill was born July 8, 1950, in Vinton, Iowa, the son of Clarence and Stella Phelps. He was raised by his grandma, who was like a mom to him.

He loved fishing, working on cars, and most of all he enjoyed spending time with his grandkids, who were his pride and joy.

He was preceded in death by parents, grandparents and a brother.
