Marjorie Ongie-Hall

Marjorie Ongie-Hall, 79, of Cedar Rapids, passed away Sunday, Dec. 16, 2012, at Northbrook Care Center. Services: 9 a.m. Saturday at Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories by the Rev. Richard Ernst. Interment: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. A visitation will be held from 3 to 7 p.m. Friday at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home.

Survivors include her children, Marcia Burns and Mary DeSotel of Cedar Rapids, Lorri Ripperda of Tyndall, S.D. and Brian (Gidget) DeSotel of Walker; six grandchildren; and four great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husbands and grandson.

Marjorie was born Dec. 17, 1932, in Alburnett, to John and Carolina Bloom. She received her teaching degree from Westmar College. She was an elementary education teacher in the North-Linn Community School District until her retirement.

Marjorie was an active member of Hillside Wesleyan Church where she taught Sunday school. She also volunteered at Aid to Women and Hospice of Mercy. She loved to travel with the Farmers State Bank Silver Society and spending time with her family.

A memorial fund has been established.
