Nelson, Anita
Anita Nelson, 91, of Marion, died Thursday, Jan. 31, 2013, at the Hospice House of Mercy in Hiawatha. Services: 1 p.m. Saturday at Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories, Cedar Rapids Interment: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery, Cedar Rapids. A visitation will be held Friday from 4 to 7 p.m. at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include her children, Yvonne (Ralph) Savoy of Cedar Rapids, Suzanne (Jeff) Boeke of Ridgeway and Al (Mary) Nelson of Donahue; 10 grandchildren, Andrew, Adam, Erin, Michael, Paul, Jake, Kevin, Amanda, Scott and Charlie; and four great-grandchildren, Wolfgang, Theodore, Clover and Johnny Paul.
Anita was born April 16, 1921, in Salzburg, Austria. She married Paul Nelson on June 1, 1949, in Chicago. He died in 1968. She was employed by the U.S. Government headquarters in Augsburg, Germany. After moving to Anamosa she worked as a secretary and raised pedigreed dogs.
She will be remembered for her determination to overcome life’s challenges.
