McGrew, Shirley J.
Shirley J. McGrew, 85, longtime resident of the Coralville area, died Tuesday, Jan. 1, 2013, at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 5, at Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service in Iowa City, with burial to follow at Oak Hill Cemetery in Coralville. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday and from 9 a.m. until services Saturday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in her memory.

Shirley Jean Murschel was born Oct. 30, 1927, in Webster, S.D., the daughter of Samuel and Clara (Norby) Murschel. She was united in marriage to Floyd L. McGrew on Aug. 30, 1958, in Mason City, Iowa. The couple moved to the Coralville area where they lived for over 40 years raising their family, owning and operating General Tree Service. She not only assisted her husband in their business but also worked for the University of Iowa Hospitals in the Cardiac Clinic for over 18 years. For many years the couple also sold Christmas trees.
Her family includes her two sons and their wives, Jeff and Lynn McGrew of Park Ridge, Ill. and Mick and Sarah McGrew of Tiffin; two grandchildren, McKenzie and Madison McGrew; and a daughter-in-law, Tammy McGrew of North Liberty.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Floyd (June 27, 2009); and seven brothers and sisters.
