Richard Joseph "Dick" Loufek

Richard Joseph “Dick” Loufek, born June 8, 1934, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, son of Henry James and Marguerite Listebarger Loufek. He passed away Monday, Dec. 10, 2012, in Hot Springs, Ark., after a lengthy battle with cancer.

He leaves his wife of 51 years, Sarah Ann “Sally;” son, Richard Joseph II “Rick” and wife Gaye Lynn; grandchildren, Brentley Joseph and Hayley Paige, all of Aurora, Ill.; and sisters, Margaret Jackson and husband Joseph of Grayslake, Ill. and Sandra Fuelling and husband Burnell of Anamosa.

He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Patricia Guerin and husband John.

Dick was a lifelong duck hunter and ardent golfer. He was always proud of his Cedar Rapids Czech roots, attended Wilson High School and the University of Iowa where he was a member of the Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity. He served in the Army artillery during the Korean conflict followed by a career in food sales, retiring as vice president of Hollywood Brands, a division of the Sara Lee Corp.

Services will be held at 1 p.m. Dec. 27 at Cedar Memorial Funeral Home with burial in Cedar Memorial Park.
