Sharla Mae Landers

Sharla Mae Landers, 63, of Lisbon, died Sunday, Nov. 25, 2012, at Mercy Medical Center, Cedar Rapids, from a sudden illness. Services for Sharla will be 1 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 29, 2012, at Morgan Funeral Home, Mount Vernon. The family will welcome friends from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Morgan’s.

Her burial will be at a later date.

Surviving Sharla is her husband of 44 years, Donald; two daughters, Connie Landers of Michigan, and Deb (Mike) Jacobs of Vinton; five grandchildren, Chelsea, Alissa, Dylan, Jason, and Jamey; four sisters, Marcia Drafahl, Marilyn McEnany, Janet (Jack) Coon, and Kathyrn Wilcox; and two brothers, Floyd and Jack (Joan) Drafahl.

Preceding Sharla in death were her parents, Hazel and Woodrow Drafahl; two brothers, Richard and Clifford Drafahl; a nephew, Scott McEnany; and great-niece, Megan Scott.

Sharla was born Dec. 30, 1948, in Cedar Rapids. She grew up in Palo, Iowa, and graduated from Jefferson High School, Cedar Rapids. Sharla was united in marriage on March 16, 1968, to Donald Landers. She worked at Rockwell Collins for 30-plus years and was looking forward to retirement. Sharla enjoyed being with family, fishing, and spending time with her sister and best buddy, Marcia.

In lieu of flowers and plants, a memorial fund has been established in Sharla’s honor: American Diabetes Association Iowa Affiliate, 317 Seventh Ave. SE, Cedar Rapids, IA 52401.
